Destination Marketing

We promote Bankside and all it has to offer, driving exploration across the whole neighbourhood.

Bankside is London’s Other Side, a world class neighbourhood with a special character and rich heritage, loved by overseas and British tourists as well as Londoners. We celebrate our difference. Our strength is in our collective; we work in partnership with consumer facing businesses to share expertise and plans and provide marketing support.

The marketing support your business can access includes:

Bankside London and What’s On Newsletter

Based on our understanding of the needs and behaviour of our visitors, we will raise awareness of Bankside via a variety of initiatives including the redeveloped xxxxx website and regular newsletters, as well as in conjunction with London and Partners. The website includes information on Bankside’s attractions, art galleries, heritage, open spaces, pubs, restaurants, theatres and festivals as well as an events guide and dedicated sections for the travel trade and the travel press.

Social Media

Bankside London is active on social media, including Twitter(link is external)Facebook(link is external) and Instagram(link is external). Providing up to the minute information about what’s happening in Bankside, social media provides an immediate and informal way to connect anyone interested in visiting the area.

Events

We continue to create and major visitor events, including Merge Festival(link is external) and the annual Bastille Festival(link is external).

Visitor Information

We produce the Bankside Guide as well as One Big Summer Guide in conjunction with South Bank, Vauxhall, Waterloo and Team London Bridge and jointly operate the award winning Infobikes(link is external) – our mobile tourist information centres during summer months. The Infobikes welcome people to the area and offer information to visitors where and when they want it: on the streets. The InfoBikes won the 2008 Visit London Silver Award for Best Visitor Information Initiative. They are staffed by Londoners who share their local knowledge and help visitors make the most of their stay. The environmentally-friendly InfoBikes pitch up at key locations to offer on-the-spot advice and recommendations to the huge numbers visiting the area’s cultural venues, family attractions and events. All members of Better Bankside have the opportunity to place their marketing collateral free of charge on the bikes.

Riverside London App

In 2011 we launched the free Riverside London App(link is external) using augmented reality it shows visitors what is happening at all the main attractions as well as having listings for bars, restaurants, shops and hotels in the area.

Visitor Research

We undertake regular visitor research, from surveys to footfall tracking to understand visitor motivations and needs.

Familiarisation Trips

Better Bankside offers regular familiarisation trips to both the travel trade and to press, these can be tailored to meet requirements
